Attorney Phillip Milligan

Phillip J. Milligan

Phillip J. Milligan received his bachelor’s degree in biology from Arkansas Tech University. Between 1985 and 1988, Mr. Milligan received his juris doctorate from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, Arkansas. Afterward, Mr. Milligan became a special agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation from 1988 to 1992 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. In 1992, Mr. Milligan returned to his hometown of Fort Smith and founded Milligan, Medlock & Gramlich. With an emphasis on litigation, he has practiced in the areas of general corporate law and business, medical malpractice, products liability and person injury.

Mr. Milligan is a member in good standing with the Arkansas Bar, Arkansas Trial Lawyers Association and the American Association for Justice (formerly Association of Trial Lawyers of America). He was honored in the 1999-2000 edition of the National Register’s Who’s Who in Executives and Professionals. In service to his community, he is a board member and general counsel for the Arkansas-Oklahoma Regional Education and Promotion Association. He is an active volunteer coach and sponsor with the Fort Smith Boys & Girls Club. Mr. Milligan also sponsors Newspapers in Education for Fort Smith Public Schools.

To date, Mr. Milligan holds the record for the largest jury verdict in Johnson County, Arkansas. The ruling was for $1,000,000.00 in an automobile collision case.  He also has the largest combined jury verdict in Crawford County, Arkansas with a $2,500,000.00 verdict against several defendants in a wrongful death suit.

Originally born in Little Rock, Arkansas, Mr. Milligan and his family have close ties to the Fort Smith, Arkansas region.  He is happily married to Julie, his wife of 20 years. They have one son.
